The Spring Show was a huge success. It was the first time we had been at Strathorn Farm which was a great venue. It was a dry but rather windy day so we were glad all 3 rings were indoors. We kicked off with the Welsh In Hand Judged by Jo Jack. Most classes had reasonable entries with some lovely ponies forward. The first of our Championships was the Welsh Youngstock won by Claire Chisman's parbred Tylo Erebus & Aimee Hugill's Sec B Waxwing Flashlight, both extreamly smart ponies. Emily McQuillin's Sec C mare Lady Carmelyn took the Adult championship. The Overall Welsh championship was a repeat of the Youngstock championship proving these two ponies certainly have bright futures.
The M&M classes also judged by Jo Jack were well supported with the Youngstock championship going to Clair Stewart's Mill Of Towie Gambler & Fiona Thomson's Southills Obsession as reserve. The Adult & Overall Championships went to Jenni Ellies & Newoak Zoom with Emma Watson & Hardendale Rolex in reserve spot.
The wide range of classes on offer in the Mixed In Hand section always attracts good entries. Judged by Becky MacAngus her champion came from the mixed youngstock class in the form of Claire Chisman's Overall Welsh Champion Partbred Tylo Erebus. The introduction of Heavy Horse classes proved popular. The reserve mixed in hand champion was Vikki Tedcastle's Clydsdale Bogton Marmalade.
We were delighted to be able to reinstate our Members Championships this year. Our In Hand Champion was Claire Chisman & Tylo Erebus with Junior member Grace Thompson & Withymead Honeycomb Delight as reserve. The ridden was won by Zoe Clarke & Woodbank Smokey Joe with Ava Grant Annandale & Pinocchio taking reserve
The day just kept getting better for Tylo Erebus who went on to take the Supreme In Hand with Jenni Ellies & Newoak Zoom in reserve.
On to the riddens with Ava Grant & Annandale Pinocchio & Elinor Bosanquet's Danaway Matty in Novice Ch & res respectivly. The Open went Aiva Dickie & Gobbanium Kyffin as champion & Zoe Clarke's Woodbank Smokey Joe in reserve. Supreme ridden was Sam Winn & Curious George & Ava Dickie Gobbanium Kyffin was reserve
Mini ridden champion was Lanna Grant with Thistledown Edison & Isla Maclachlan's Craigieholme Rascal in reserve.
The children's fun classes went down a storm. With every class having over 10 entries several had to be split. Good job we had extra rosettes & plenty of sweaties. Everyone went home with a prize & a smile, what more could you ask for!

The core aim of the NSWPCA is to promote all sections of the stud book and to support the objectives of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society here in the North of Scotland. To encourage members to support shows, events and sales of the welsh breed and to promote the welfare of horses and ponies generally, including responsible breeding.
The association holds 3 shows a year, Spring, Summer and Winter which are open to both members and non-members. We run classes for all - not just welsh! Our summer show is affiliated to the WPCS, SPSBS and NPS Scotland with qualifiers for the National Welsh, NPS Scoland and Caledonian Championships. We award fabulous rosettes, sashes and trophies and our summer show is a medal show. NSWPCA members receive discounted entry fees to all our shows/events and new members are always very welcome. If you would like to join please, visit our membership page.
